Reenacting History

Through battle reenactments and reliving history in the present day, Shriver Greys try to recreate the past and show the public a glimpse of what happened more than 135 years ago… the officers leading the charge, the soldiers forming the ranks, the cavalry turning the flanks of the enemy, and the artillery sending out its sound of destruction, you feel a part of history. You are taken back to Gettysburg, Cold Harbor, Spotsylvania and other Civil War battlegrounds.

The modern day Shriver Greys also try to preserve the past. One project was the acquisition of the tree that Gen. John Hunt Morgan surrendered under. A member of the company designed and built a display case for it. The company presented to the Museum in the Beaver Creek State Park where it is on display.

Another project that the company is currently working on is the replacement of the headstones on some of the Confederate soldiers buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Wheeling, WV.

Education plays an important role in the Shriver Greys. We participate in Living History programs through out the Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia Area. Living histories are a way for us to let people get up close and ask the questions, see the camps, and learn about our heritage.
